I approach therapy through a social justice lens, recognizing the impact of systemic inequalities on mental health. My practice is deeply rooted in valuing equality, empowerment, and intersectionality. I believe in the importance of addressing not just individual struggles, but also the broader social context that influences our lives.
Growing up in Ukraine in the early nineties and then immigrating to Canada, I had to learn to be adaptable. This flexibility and adaptability has followed me to my adult life and became a core personality trait. As a therapist, this translates in my ability to cater my services to each client, to meet people where they are at, and to pivot my approach to better suit your needs.
I intimately understand life transitions. From immigrating from Ukraine to Canada at the age of twelve, to becoming a parent of a neurodivergent child in my thirties, I understand the mixed bag of emotions that facilitate each change. However, I also understand that each life transition experience is unique and as your counsellor I want to know and understand your story.
I strive for a holistic approach to therapy, considering the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I aim to create an inclusive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.
In my practice, I will not try to fix you, as I believe you are not broken. I will not give you advice or assume what is best for you, recognizing that you are the expert in your own life. I will not pretend to know more than you about your situation, but instead, I will stay humble to your experiences and perspectives.
I specialize in working with kids/youth (ages 10-18), parents, adults/children on the autism spectrum, adults/children with ADHD, people with chronic health conditions, folks experiencing life transitions, members of LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and folks with general mental health concerns.
As your therapist, I will give you room to grow at your own pace and support you in figuring out what is best for you. I will collaborate with you on how to make the hard stuff a little bit easier, while offering you guidance and support along the way. Please feel free to reach out for a consultation so that we can determine if we’d be a good fit to work together. I look forward to hearing from you.
